Jason Findlay

About Me

I've spent the last 16 years working in legal technology, helping law firms get the most out of their systems. Currently, I'm leading the P4W team at OneAdvanced, where we focus on making sure our clients get real value from their technology investments.

My background has taken me from hands-on technical support right through to strategic leadership. I started as an Applications Support Analyst at Tikit back in 2009, learning the ins and outs of legal software from the ground up. Over the years, I've worked my way through various roles - IT Consultant, Trainer, Project Manager, and now Head of Services - picking up experience across the full spectrum of legal IT.

What I've learned is that successful technology isn't just about the software itself. It's about understanding how law firms actually work, what challenges they face, and how to implement solutions that genuinely make their lives easier. That's where my PRINCE2 certification comes in handy - it gives me a structured approach to managing complex projects whilst keeping everyone focused on the end goal.

What I Do

Leading Technology Teams

I manage a specialist team focused on Partner for Windows (P4W) solutions at OneAdvanced. This involves everything from strategic planning and day-to-day operations through to developing our people and maintaining strong client relationships. I work closely with technical, commercial, and client-facing teams to deliver the best possible outcomes.

Project Management & Implementation

With PRINCE2 Practitioner certification and years of hands-on experience, I've led complex software implementations from start to finish. Whether it's a new document management system, practice management platform, or cloud migration, I make sure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to your business.

Client Support & Consultancy

I work directly with law firms to understand their challenges and develop solutions that work for them. This might involve troubleshooting complex technical issues, advising on system optimisation, or helping firms develop their technology strategy for the future.

Training & Development

Getting the technology right is only half the battle - people need to know how to use it effectively. With my team we design and deliver training programmes that help legal professionals get the most out of their systems, from basic user training through to advanced administrative functions.

THE LEADERSHIP CHAPTER • 2025-PRESENT

Running Services for P4W at OneAdvanced

These days, I'm the one leading a team of consultants and support analysts, which means I get to do the bit I love most - helping others and solving problems and making sure our clients actually succeed with their technology.

We've worked hard to transform how we engage with clients, moving from reactive support to more proactive partnership. The results have been encouraging - improved response times, better client satisfaction scores, and a team that's genuinely engaged with what we're doing.

THE OPERATIONS & LEADERSHIP YEARS • 2019-2025

Service Delivery Manager & Mid Market Project Operations Manager

This was where I really cut my teeth on leadership - first managing a team of project managers and project administrators at Tikit, then leading trainers and consultants at OneAdvanced. Turns out, leading different types of teams teaches you that good leadership isn't about the role, it's about understanding what each person needs to succeed.

As Service Delivery Manager, I learned that managing services is really about managing relationships. Spent nearly four years building bridges between technical teams, sales, and clients. Most "technical" problems are actually communication problems in disguise, and I became the person who translated "it's not working" into actionable solutions.

THE TRANSITION • 2020-2021

Senior Project Manager (When OneAdvanced Acquired Tikit)

When OneAdvanced acquired Tikit in 2020, I transitioned into a Senior Project Manager role. Same fundamental passion for making legal technology work properly, but now part of a larger organisation with new opportunities and challenges.

THE LEARNING & GROWTH DECADE • 2009-2019

From Support Desk to Project Management

This is where it all began. The years that took me from "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" to "Let's redesign your entire workflow."

Started answering support calls and learning that every "simple" question has a story behind it. Became the trainer who could explain complex systems in ways that made sense. Evolved into the project manager who understood both the technical bits and the human bits.

The real education wasn't in the software - it was in understanding how law firms actually work, what keeps partners awake at night, and why some implementations succeed while others gather dust.
